Aregno
Village of Balagne
Aregno is an old, traditional hilltop village with red-tiled houses, dominated by the remarkable Eglise de la Trinité, an 11th-century architectural gem set in the middle of the communal cemetery.
This village likes to perpetuate its ancient customs. Traditional processions, followed by open-air communal meals, are still held here.
Aregno and its two hamlets, Torre and Praoli, dominate an agricultural plain that stretches down to the sea. Pastoralism and citrus and almond orchards have shaped this landscape. Aregno was famous for the quality of its oranges.
