A story of tradition and resilience
Perched in the heart of the magnificent Calvi region, Clos Calvese embodies a true return to the roots of local agriculture. After years of dormancy, this estate steeped in history has been reborn under the impetus of two visionary young farmers, Florence and Palma, eager to breathe new life into this land steeped in history.
The roots of Clos Calvese go back to a time when nature reigned supreme and cultivated land was a symbol of prosperity. In days gone by, the Renucoli and Champeau families created a small agricultural paradise, marked by a majestic stately home, stables, wine cellar and well that bear witness to a bygone but not forgotten era.
Since 2021, the Clos Calvese has been transformed into a haven of greenery where market garden crops thrive under the benevolent gaze of Florence and Palma. Driven by a shared passion for the land and its traditions, these two aspiring farmers have embarked on a veritable journey towards food self-sufficiency, lovingly cultivating seasonal fruit and vegetables.
Beyond simply growing vegetables, Florence and Palma are committed to revitalizing the Clos Calvese's ancestral heritage. Eventually, the stately home will be restored to welcome travelers in search of authenticity and tranquility. With determination and courage, these young women take up the challenge of restoring this treasure of the past, while breathing new energy into it for future generations.
Faced with the challenges ahead, Florence and Palma remain optimistic and determined to preserve the soul and essence of Clos Calvese. From restoring the manor house to revitalizing the fertile land, every step of this journey is guided by a deep respect for nature and an unwavering attachment to their Corsican roots.
Through the Clos Calvese, a true story of resilience and rebirth is written before our eyes, carried by the passion and courage of two women determined to shape a better future for their community and their beloved land.
