The history
Like many Corsican towns and villages, Moncale's origins date back to the Middle Ages. In the 13th century, the commune showed its avant-garde spirit by establishing a popular government. Then came the time of the seigneuries, and Moncale was designated a fiefdom by local lords. That's how important the village was in those days...
The village
Located south-east of Calvi and adjacent to the commune of Calenzana, Moncale is a village where life is good. Small mountains surround a pretty plain where streams and a river meander. Moncale is also known for its magnificent olive groves, honey, cheese and olive oil production.
