Novella
Village of Balagne
A beautiful balcony overlooking the Ostriconi valley, the Agriates desert and the Mediterranean Sea, Novella enjoys an exceptional geographical location.
But that's far from being its only asset...
The history
Novella may have been founded as a village in the 11th century, but the area was already populated long before that! The area was, in fact, a Roman sanctuary in ancient times...
Novella's privileged position (close to the coast) made it the object of much covetousness over the years (notably from the Turks in the 16th century, who were finally repulsed by the courageous inhabitants).
The village boomed in the 19th century thanks to the massive cultivation of olive trees, which produced oil of excellent quality.
The village
Opposite the village ofUrtaca, Novella stands out for its colorful buildings.
From imposing old buildings (grouped around the Santa Croce church) to resolutely modern dwellings and even a mansion (dating back to the 19th century!), there's something for everyone!
In addition to its diverse architecture, you'll appreciate the peacefulness of the area. A little haven of peace where you can spend your days in peace...
