Palasca
Village of Balagne
With its view over the Mediterranean and its proximity to the magnificent Agriates desert, Palasca is seductive, charming and enchanting.
A place not to be missed during your next stay in Balagne...
The history
While the village of Palasca was built in the Middle Ages (under the influence of the Marquises of Massa, then protectors of Corsica), the territory has been inhabited for much longer... Certainly since prehistoric times!
For centuries, the commune's neighbors were the villagers of E Spelonche. Unfortunately, the barbarian invasions and the plague epidemic that followed devastated the area, leaving nothing but ruins.
Palasca, however, survived, and today is one of the most popular spots in Haute-Corse!
The village
In addition to its breathtaking panorama, Palasca is also known for its "case torre", or fortified houses of character.
The village's cachet also comes from the presence of ancient lime kilns and beautiful fountains all around.
Remnants of a bygone era that you'll love to admire on a stroll or hike to the coast...
