A family tradition of cattle breeding
Nestled by the sea in the picturesque Taravo plain of Serra-di-Ferro in southern Corsica, Ferme Fil di Rosa embodies the very essence of traditional Corsican agriculture. Managed by the Abbatucci family, Jacques, Véronique and Antoine, this cattle farm perpetuates a heritage dating back several generations, combining ancestral methods of the 19th century with the modern technologies of the 21st.
At Fil di Rosa Farm, breeding is synonymous with respect for nature and animal welfare. On nearly 600 hectares of land, the 300 cows roam in total freedom, benefiting from vast open spaces and varied seasonal grazing, between green plains and scrubland hillsides. This extensive approach encourages the harmonious development of the animals in an unspoilt natural environment.
To preserve the ecological balance and quality of its products, Fil di Rosa Farm is committed to organic farming. In addition to natural pastures, the farm grows all the fodder crops needed to feed the animals during drier periods. This self-sufficiency guarantees a healthy, balanced diet, free from harmful chemicals.
At Fil di Rosa Farm, nothing is lost, everything is transformed. Organic waste is recycled by recovering manure from nearby horse farms and chicken farms. This precious natural compost is then transformed on site, nourishing the soil and promoting soil fertility. This environmentally-friendly approach illustrates the farm's commitment to sustainable and responsible agriculture.
Ferme Fil di Rosa is much more than just a farm: it's a haven of peace where tradition and modernity come together on a daily basis to offer quality products, imbued with the terroir and authenticity of Corsica.
