Sant'Antonino
Village of Balagne
Do you know the picturesque village of Sant' Antonino in the Balagne region? Considered one of the most beautiful on the Isle of Beauty, it rises to an altitude of 500m and is one of the oldest villages in Haute-Corse. Prepare to be enchanted by the charm of its narrow streets and its breathtaking views over the plain and the Mediterranean...
Perched on a hill in the heart of the rich Balagne region, this village remains the finest example of island medieval architecture. A stroll through its vaulted passageways is enough to appreciate the preservation of this architectural gem, one of France's most beautiful villages.
The 12-century-old village overlooks the Aregno plain on one side and part of the Reginu plain on the other. A veritable eagle's nest perched atop its granite boulder, the village is made up of some 75 houses, all welded together, and wrapped around a granite piton forming an embryonic labyrinth to better resist any would-be invaders.
A wealth of heritage, sumptuous views, a well-preserved environment and character are precious assets, but you'll also discover a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere in which the human element has its rightful place.
